Starvation is the deprivation of the food and thereby deprivation of exogenous supply of calories to meet the energy demands of the body for basal metabolism and other activities

Starvation is not always the result of unavailability or scarcity of food .
Any medical condition, which prevents consumption or utilization of available food will lead to starvation , e.g. trauma, surgery, cancer , infections, malabsorption, etc.

Starve Feed Cycle
It is divided into 5 stages
1. Well fed state (1-4 hours after food)
2 Early Fasting (4-16 hours after food)
3 Fasting (16-48 hours after food)
4 Starvation (2-4 days without food)
5 Prolonged starvation (More than 5 days without food)
