Dr Noemie Lopian is the daughter of Holocaust survivors Dr Ernst Israel Bornstein and Renee Bornstein, and Mr Derek Niemann is a writer, creative writing tutor and editor specialising in natural history and memoirs. Both join Professor Sir Simon Wessely, RSM immediate past-President, for a conversation about their family histories, the Holocaust and ways to prevent future genocides. Dr Lopian also talks about her parents surviving the Holocaust and her father and mother’s stories from this time. And Mr Niemann talks about how an ordinary man became a perpetrator in arguably the greatest crime of the 20th century.
