Designing Perfect 1-Car Garage Conversion to ADU in Ocean Beach, Is it Possible? Del Monte ADU

In our innovative garage-to-ADU conversion project, we faced the challenge of working with a compact 11ft x 17ft 1-car garage space in the picturesque Ocean Beach, San Diego. Our goal was to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) while preserving the existing house's character.

One of the unique features of our design was the incorporation of a walkway on the left side of the ADU.

At the front of the ADU, we introduced a small yet fully functional bathroom. This addition was a game-changer, as it made the ADU self-contained .


A standout aspect of our design was the commitment to maintaining the integrity of the existing house. We took great care not to block any windows of the primary residence, ensuring that natural light and views were not compromised.

To further enhance the living experience, we created a charming outdoor patio space. This outdoor area not only added valuable square footage to the ADU but also served as an inviting spot for relaxation and entertainment.

In summary, our garage conversion to an ADU in Ocean Beach, San Diego, was a testament to thoughtful design and efficient use of space. The incorporation of a walkway, a front bathroom, and the preservation of existing house windows, along with the addition of a delightful outdoor patio, transformed a modest garage into a functional and appealing living space.
