Tesla imported around 300 Model Y SUVs into India last year, and nearly 100 are reportedly still unsold after almost four months. The Model Y is fully imported, with duties in India that can reach 110%, pushing prices into the premium segment, starting near $70,000. Data shows Tesla registered 227 vehicles in India in 2025. Globally, Tesla delivered 1.64 million vehicles in 2025, while BYD sold 2.26 million.
