Still in shock on what happened on this one! Almost 5 minutes of pure panic attack, 4:47 to be exact! Can’t wait to show you all the priceless footage and commentary of the entire events of this 50+ incher. After having this fish follow about an hour before dark, we obviously made plans to come back at sundown to try and get lucky. As the sun was setting, we made our silent approach back towards the “big one.” Personally, I was not expecting her to come back out and eat, but then again, I forgot I was in Canada where cool things actually still happen in Muskie fishing 🤣. When I need to stack the odds in my favor, I always strap the cheater bait. My Black/Cranberry colored SuperModel. If she's going to eat, she will eat this lure. As I am reeling in “THE” cast to the rock she was sitting on, I can see her coming in behind the bait. Here we go. It’s hard to describe in words what took place the next handful of minutes. She chased the lure on my figure 8, my oval, my straight-away, my “Zorro move,” my everything for almost 5 minutes. After each move, we learned what she liked, and didn’t like. The dialogue between us 3 in the boat deciding what move was best to try next is something I’ll never forget. I pulled a muscle in my quad, I was out of breath, completely exhausted. When she actually bit the lure, we were all shocked....it worked, we tricked her! Must have been the White belt?The relief, the cheering, the hugging, just the overall celebrations of “cool stuff” that happens when you Muskie fish long enough is simply the reason we keep going on these adventures. Andy Hamm and I have hugged a lot, but this was a top 5 hug for sure! Been Muskie fishing for many years, and I get more addicted to this game the more I go.
