Spa Valley Railway 'Sir Keith Park Launch Weekend' 12/09/2020

Over the 12th & 13th September, the Spa Valley Railway hosted a special weekend of the launch into service of ex-Southern Railway 'Battle of Britain' Class Pacific No.34053 "Sir Keith Park" making the first time of its class to run on the line since the 1960s.

As the first true Southern locomotive in action on the line, 34053 owned by Southern Locomotives Ltd was trans-ford to Spa Valley after in need of under cover for the winter months, however the locomotive was now become a new permanent resident to the railway until late 2021 where "Sir Keith Park" will be withdrawn for it boiler ticket expired.

34053 was assisting by one of the line resident British Railways Class 33 No.33063 "R. J. Mitchell Designer of the Spitfire" to provide top - tailed on a five round trips service's from Tunbridge Wells West to Eridge & back.
