BearingShopUK - Splitting a Chain with a Chain Breaker

Описание к видео BearingShopUK - Splitting a Chain with a Chain Breaker

Here is a short video on splitting chain with a chain breaker. This is useful if you need to remove a link from a stretched chain.

• First you will need a chain breaker and something to mark the chain
• Chain breaker 10101 will break ¼" to ¾" pitch chain and 10102 will break ¾
• Fully unwind the handle to bring the pin up from breakers jaws
• Mark the pins or plate where you need to break the chain
• Clamp the breaker jaws over the chain so that the breaker pin lines up with the chain rivet
• Tighten the chain breaker to push the rivet through the top chain plate
• It is normally best to apply a bit pressure to each rivet alternatively
• Applying too much pressure to one rivet can bend the link and damage the chain
• Once both rivets have been pushed through the plate, the link should slide out from the chain
• Some rivets can be tight and may need a tap with a hammer and a punch
