1998 All Ireland winner Pádraic Joyce was horrified to discover the plight of a club player when he quit the inter-county scene with Galway and ‘gave a few years’ to his club Killererin.

‘My God, it was a torture’, says Pádraic. ‘It’s crazy what club players are going through’. Joyce, who was speaking at the launch of the Club Players Association, has strong views on the 13-day rule ‘not being enforced’ and county set-ups where ‘the training to playing ratio is absolutely ridiculous’.
