THE CHIEFS AND PEOPLE OF AKROPONG, IN THE AKUAPEM TRADITIONAL AREA, EASTERN GHANA, TAKING PART IN THE ODWIRA FESTIVAL RECENTLY STAGED A GRAND CELEBRATION TO MARK THE HALF-WAY OF THEIR ANNUAL EVENT.

THE CEREMONY WAS ATTENDED BY CHIEFS, REPRESENTATIVES OF THE DIPLOMATIC CORPS, AND MEMBERS OF THE EASTERN REGIONAL COMMITTEE OF ADMINISTRATION. MAJOR-GENERAL OCRAN, COMMANDER OF THE GHANA ARMY AND A MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL, WAS ALSO THERE.

AFTER THE PROCESSION THROUGH THE MAIN STREET OF AKROPONG TO THE GROUND WHERE THE CELEBRATIONS WERE HELD NANA KWAME FORI THE SECOND, OMANHENE OF AKUAPEM TRADITIONAL AREA RECEIVED HOMAGE FROM HIS SUB-CHIEFS AND THE PEOPLE.

LATER IN A SPEECH HE APPEALED TO HIS SUBJECTS TO CULTIVATE THE SPIRIT OF BROTHERHOOD AND CONCERN THEMSELVES ALSO WITH WELFARE AND THE PROGRESS OF AKWAPIM STATE.

NANA KWAME FORI THANKED THE NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL FOR TRYING TO REBUILD THE COUNTRY'S ECONOMY AND RID GHANIAN SOCIETY OF BRIBERY AND CORRUPTION. HE EXPRESSED HIS PEOPLE'S LOYALTY AND SUPPORT FOR THE NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL
