Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk and Families in Bicol Region 06/07/2024

As the government continues its concrete actions in responding to the impacts of El Niño in affected communities, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the distribution of various assistance to farmers, fisherfolk and families in a program at the Albay Astrodome in Legazpi City on June 7, 2024.

The President turns over the following assistance from the Department of Agriculture (DA) and its Attached Agencies:

• 2 units of open source pumping sets
• 1 unit of cassava granulator
• 10 sacks of hybrid seeds
• 10 sacks of hybrid corn seeds
• 10 sacks of urea fertilizer
• 10 sacks of complete fertilizer
• 10 sacks of muriate of potash fertilizer
• 2 units of tractors from the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech)
• 3 units of 18-foot fiber fishing boats and 20 bottom sets of gillnets from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)
• 10 sacks of inbred certified seeds from the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice)

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) provides PhP10,000 each to 5,000 beneficiaries while the Office of House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez hands over five (5) kilograms of rice per attendee.

Moreover, the Office of the President (OP) extends financial assistance worth PhP40,000 to 40 beneficiaries, as well as around PhP100 million to the Provincial Governments of Albay, Catanduanes, Masbate and Sorsogon.
