At least eight people were killed and 25 others injured after a truck lost control and rammed devotees participating in a Ganesh idol immersion in Karnataka's Hassan district on Friday, police said.

The incident occurred on National Highway-373 when the truck was trying to avoid a bike that was coming from the opposite direction on the road. The driver, who also got injured, was taken into custody, Hassan SP Mohammed Sujeetha MS said.
