RESIDENT EVIL 9 REQUIEM Exclusive Gamescom 2026 Demo | Best ZOMBIE SURVIVAL HORROR coming in 2026


Check out the first exclusive preview demo look at the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem running in RE Engine. We captured this gameplay footage in a PlayStation 5 Pro at a exclusive event prior to Gamescom 2025 (no commentary). This is the new entry of the popular single player survival horror shooter with zombies, inventory management and puzzles!


Playing Resident Evil Requiem for the first time has been a wild ride, and the previews we read beforehand definitely set the stage perfectly. Capcom has truly gone back to the series' survival horror roots, which feels amazing. You play as Grace Ashcroft, a young FBI technical analyst who is also the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, the investigative reporter from Resident Evil Outbreak. The game's atmosphere reminds us a lot of Resident Evil 7, with its terrifying first person sections and claustrophobic corridors. But what's really cool is that you can switch from first person to third person at the menu anytime, which offers a totally different way to experience the scares.

The classic Resident Evil formula is all here: you have to solve puzzles to advance, finding keys, fuses, and screwdrivers to open up new areas. Resource management is key, and we were thrilled to see that green herbs are back for healing. You're not always armed, and a lot of the initial gameplay involves stealth and using your environment, like throwing bottles to distract enemies. This is crucial because, just like Mr. X or Lady Dimitrescu, there’s a giant monster chasing you that feels smarter and more relentless than ever. One of the best things we saw in the demo was how the monster’s pursuit now takes place on different vertical levels, and it can appear at any moment from the ceiling, adding a whole new layer of terror. The demo we played was incredibly dark, so we had to use my lighter a lot, which made the entire experience even more suffocating as we could barely see anything and always felt the monster was close by. Thankfully, based on the rumors, it seems Grace isn't the only protagonist. There's another well-known main character with lots of weapons who reportedly shows up later on. We can't wait to see how that changes the dynamic. It's shaping up to be a true return to form for the series, and we've got my calendar marked for its release on 2026!
