Gorgeous hike to Lower Dewey Lake in Skagway, Alaska. Beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing, ending in a serene mountain lake. Great scenery for treadmill and elliptical workouts.

Our walk/hike starts right at sea level, having just left the boat and walked a quarter mile up the dock and sidewalk to where you can see the Dewey Lakes trail sign. The hike is steep for the first 20 minutes, and then mellows, arriving at the lake after 1.8 miles. Along the well-marked and groomed trail, you'll have great viewpoints of Skagway and this lush mossy coastal forest. When you arrive at the lake, you can add another 30 minutes to the hike by circumnavigating the lake to make it a loop, or continue higher east to Upper Dewey Lake, or head further north to Icy Lake and eventually Upper Reid Falls (which is what we did, making it a 10 mile hike overall).

I added some relaxing piano music to add a little ambiance. If you don't enjoy the music, or sound of the footsteps on the trail, mute the volume and stream your favorite music service while walking along. If the pace doesn't suit you, use the YouTube Playback Speed setting to adjust.
