Belstaff Trialmaster jacket review

Описание к видео Belstaff Trialmaster jacket review

The Belstaff Trialmaster is about as iconic as a motorcycle jacket gets. It's been around in various forms since just after the war. The version that has just been replaced was a heck of a jacket, but for some it was simply too much of a jacket. With it's 10 ounce wax cotton chassis it was a heavy jacket. Yes, it was robust; it was more than up to a winter commute, but it was not nice to walk around in, and could be uncomfortably hot in warmer weather.

We spent many years asking Belstaff for a lighter version. Many years! Well, it would seem that our entreaties were not quite so ignored as we thought, as the new version has a much lighter, eight ounce chassis.

We have to say, this really has transformed the jacket. It is so much easier to wear. It is much more like the Crosby, which has long been our favourite Belstaff jacket.

Of course, this is still a longer jacket, and very little, other than the main fabric, has changed. There's a new colour this year; the one shown here. There's no thermal liner as standard, and that suits us because frankly the old one was pretty disposable. The only other key change is that the new version is cheaper. And that's the first time we've seen such a bold pricing move from Belstaff.

The new jacket really does represent a step change!
