A fascinating look at research and manufacturing of polonium ( a radioactive element) during the height of the Cold War. Mound Laboratories in Miamisburg Ohio was run by Monsanto and some of the work done there is still classified today. The dangerous work was conducted between 1945 to 2003. The environmental cleanup began in 1995.

You’ll learn about the security and safety measures the workers used and a Soviet Spy that infiltrated the facility as a worker. See and hear the radioactive elements in interactive displays. Understand the important discoveries that were part of the Manhattan Project and the Dayton Project that still impact space and medical technology today.

The museum is located by the largest conical Indian Burial Mound in Ohio. You can walk up the top of the mound for a panoramic view of the area.
