The Houston Texans have won their second playoff game in their brief history, and both have come against the Cincinnati Bengals. This article is a look at the aftermath from the Texans wild-card weekend victory.

In the first quarter of their December 16 game vs the Indianapolis Colts Matt Schaub hit Andre Johnson for a three-yard touchdown pass. In their last five games (including their wild-card game) that is Schaub's only touchdown pass. Yikes. This team travels to take on the New England Patriots next week so they will need to find their passing game asap.

The Texans were trounced by the Pats in week 14 by a score of 42-14. Schaub had zero touchdowns and one interception. For the entire season Schaub had a measly nine road touchdowns vs eight road interceptions. His quarterback rating at home was a gaudy 101.7, but on the road that plummeted to just 79.5

I am the 2013 NFL Playoffs Insider for Rant Sports so I will have a game preview up early next week, but right off the bat we see that the Texans defense will have their work cut out for them next weekend.

Houston is #7 vs the rush, and the Pats are #7 for their running game. Their defense will have to shut down Stevan Ridley, and then have their best player J.J. Watt wreak havoc on Tom Brady and the Brady Bunch.

Arian Foster averages 83 rushing yards per game vs the Pats, and he is hot lately too. His 4.4 yards per carry in December was his best month, and for the season he averaged 4.3 yards per carry on the road. He had a touchdown, and went well north of 100 in their wild-card win.

The issue for the Texans is that the Pats are a top-10 defense vs the run, but horrid vs the pass. These days the Texans run game is sound, but their passing game is non-existent.

Gary Kubiak is now 2-1 in the playoffs, and overall the Texans are 61-54 under him.
