"The Moray Eels Eat The Holy Modal Rounders" was released in 1968 on Elektra Records, the album was a far-out yet much more concise and focused take on the band's take on folk and psychedelia.

The Holy Modal Rounders was formed in New York City's Lower East Side by Peter Stampfel and Steve Weber in 1964, an eccentric duo which started out as a folk group; however, as the decade progressed they began to take influences from eastern music and raga all the way to psychedelia and the avant-garde - they've been credited as being the first band to use the word "psychedelic" in a song (possibly influenced by Aldous Huxley's book "The Doors of Perception"). The Holy Modal Rounders have had a long and lasting career and are still active till this day.

Steve Weber passed away on February 7, 2020.

The Moray Eels Eat The Holy Modal Rounders is an absolute classic in my eyes, and one of my favorite albums of all time, it feels under recognized in the Holy Modal Rounders discography and not talked much about when it comes to '60s records or psychedelic records in general, I've noticed the album hadn't even been uploaded in full on YouTube nor seen a release on streaming services, so I chose to do it myself.
