My third stop in my journey through the Hida Mountains led me to the magical campground of Kamikochi (Kamikōchi 上高地). Situated just a few miles the Nishiho-sansou hut and jagged region of Hotaka and it's surroundings, it was a great place to slow down the journey in preparation for the big climb of Mae-Hotaka ahead.

Kamikochi is often called the "Yosemite of Japan." While much smaller than it's American counterpart, you'll be hard pressed to find a more beautiful valley anywhere else on the main island. The first revelation of this beauty lies in the birdsongs, heard upon approaching the campground and throughout each and every campsite. It is truly a sound to behold.

Various restaurants and shops can be found near the sites highly developed area surrounding the crystal-blue river. It's some of the purest drinking water you can filter in Japan. If you're prepared for a little more adventure, you can camp at one of the various spots near the river for just around 2,000 yen.

Beyond the campground, you have easy access to bus routes that transition to train routes just minutes outside of the area (cities like Matsumoto and Nagoya being great examples). This way, you can make a weekend trip out of the preserve simple through way of public transport. From there on, enjoy all the amazing sights and sounds that Kamikochi has to offer.

飛騨山脈を巡る旅の 3 番目の目的地は、上高地 (上高地) の魔法のようなキャンプ場に私を導きました。 西穂山荘と穂高のギザギザ地帯とその周辺からわずか数マイルのところに位置し、前穂高の大きな登りに備えて旅をゆっくりするのに最適な場所でした。

上高地は「日本のヨセミテ」とも呼ばれています。 アメリカの渓谷よりもはるかに小さいですが、本島の他の場所でこれより美しい渓谷を見つけるのは難しいでしょう。 この美しさの最初の啓示は、キャンプ場に近づくと、そしてすべてのキャンプ場全体で聞こえる鳥のさえずりにあります。 まさに目を見張る音です。

透き通った青い川を囲む高度に開発されたエリアの近くには、様々なレストランやショップがあります。 日本で濾過できる飲料水の中で最も純粋な水の一つです。 もう少し冒険する準備ができているなら、わずか 2,000 円ほどで川の近くのさまざまなスポットでキャンプをすることができます。

キャンプ場の外にはバス路線があり、エリアからわずか数分の距離で鉄道路線に乗り換えることができます (松本や名古屋などの都市が好例です)。 これにより、公共交通機関を利用して保護区から週末の旅行を簡単に行うことができます。 そこからは、上高地の素晴らしい景色と音を満喫してください。
