🌾 Drought is one of Zimbabwe’s greatest threats to food security and livelihoods. In response to recurrent droughts, our members identified a forecast model to detect likely crop failure and take proactive action through Start Ready's pre-positioned financing.

In October 2024, Start Ready was activated mid-growing season, releasing £800,000 to support at-risk communities in Gwanda, Matobo and Masvingo districts of Zimbabwe.

Early support included:
• Drought-tolerant seeds and fodder
• Water point restoration
• Early warnings and preparedness training
