Traditionally, the objective of breast reconstruction was to help breast cancer patients, “look normal in clothes' after mastectomy. This was not good enough for Dr. Cassileth, who wanted her patients to look and feel beautiful, sexy, and confident while naked, not just when hiding their breasts under layers of clothing.

One-stage breast reconstruction is also a less risky procedure. Historically, reconstructive methods use tissue expanders that can cause discomfort and pain - this is then followed by another surgery. By placing breast implants immediately after mastectomy, our breast reconstruction patients only have to undergo one surgery.
