The hike to Morro Peak starts on the highway east of Jasper in Jasper National Park. In a small rest area next to signs saying to slow down for wildlife, there's a cliff that hides the trail start. This is also an area where you're very likely to see mountain goats and bighorn sheep on the side of the road.

This trail is pretty much straight up. Over 600m of elevation gain in about 2.7km, there are quite a few parts that could be considered class 2 scrambles. Even the switchbacks are covered in loose rocks which makes it very slippery.

The trailhead is also shared with the Overlander Trail, which I mistakenly start at the beginning. But it is a little more of a scenic (if not windy) start than Morro Peak so I'll give it a pass. If you make it to the top, be sure to sign the log book!
