🔥 FREEDOM OVER LAW-KEEPING

Galatians 5:1 (ESV)

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”

➡️ Legalism = a yoke. Christ didn’t save you to put you back in bondage.

Romans 6:14

“For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”

➡️ Grace governs you now — not religious domination.

⚖️ RIGHTEOUSNESS IS NOT PERFORMANCE

Galatians 2:16

“A person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ.”

➡️ If righteousness came by rule-keeping, Christ died for nothing.

Romans 3:20

“By works of the law no human being will be justified.”

➡️ The law reveals sin — it never healed it.

🕊️ THE LAW WAS TEMPORARY

Galatians 3:24–25

“The law was our guardian until Christ came… but now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.”

➡️ Legalism tries to put grown sons and daughters back under babysitters.

Hebrews 8:13

“By calling this covenant ‘new,’ He has made the first one obsolete.”

➡️ Obsolete systems cannot rule New Covenant believers.

🧠 LEGALISM LOOKS HOLY BUT HAS NO POWER

Colossians 2:20–23

“Why… do you submit to regulations…? These have an appearance of wisdom… but they lack any value in restraining the flesh.”

➡️ Legalism looks spiritual, but it cannot transform hearts.

🚫 MAN-MADE RULES EXPOSED

Mark 7:7–8

“You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”

➡️ Jesus directly rebuked religious control masked as obedience.

Matthew 23:4

“They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on people’s shoulders.”

➡️ If it burdens instead of builds — it’s not from God.

💖 LOVE FULFILLS THE LAW

Romans 13:8–10

“Love is the fulfillment of the law.”

➡️ Love accomplishes what legalism never could.

Galatians 5:6

“The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”

➡️ Not fear. Not control. Not rule-obsession. Love.

🪔 THE SPIRIT, NOT THE LETTER

2 Corinthians 3:6

“The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”

➡️ Legalism kills identity. The Spirit releases life.

🛡️ DECLARATION (Use this out loud)

“I am justified by faith, not performance.
I am led by the Spirit, not religious fear.
I refuse every yoke Christ did not place on me.
I stand in grace, truth, and freedom.”
