According to DG NDRF Atul Karwal, three NDRF teams have already been dispatched—two from Gandhinagar and one from Baroda—to aid in the rescue effort following an accident in Gujarat's Morbi city in which a suspension bridge collapsed and numerous people fell into the Machchhu river. Officials reported that when a cable bridge in Gujarat's Morbi collapsed, hundreds of people fell into a river and several were seriously hurt. Medics have arrived to transport the injured to hospitals. Rescue efforts are in progress. According to a representative of the fire service, boats are being utilized to rescue individuals from the river. "We are employing boats to perform rescue operations. About 40 to 50 persons are in the river "added the officer.
