Malika Andrews, a 26-year-old journalist, is being commended for stepping in at the last minute to fill the shoes of Rachel Nichols. Andrews was brought in the day before the NBA finals to be a sideline reporter.

“Start Your Day” hosts Mike Hill and Sharon Reed applauded this young journalist. Reed suggested that Andrews become the permanent sideline reporter. “We’re ready for a fresh face, her energy and her skill set. I think it’s time for her to stay and I ‘d like to see where she goes and grows in this role.”

Hill then celebrated Andrews’ accomplishments, like becoming a network sports broadcast journalist by age 26 and working for ESPN since she was in her 20’s. Hill thinks that Andrews’ success is a blueprint that all young journalists should follow.
