Flowerstick/ Devilstick Tutorial #2 (One-handed Spin)

In this video, you see and learn how to spin the flowerstick with only one handstick. It is a very attractive trick if you can already combine it with some other tricks.

How to do it:

STARTING POSITION: Squat down and hold the handstick in your better/ stronger hand. If you are right-handed, in the right, if left-handed, in the left. Put the other handstick down so you don't get distracted. Lay the flowerstick low and put your handstick under ONE end of it (if you are holding it in your right hand, then under the right end).

1.Spinning one:
Raise your hand (the handstick with the flowerstick resting on it) to about head height. If you do it correctly, the flowerstick will make a circle in the air, touching the handstick all the way through. Don't let the flowerstick fly away, try to follow it all the way and keep it under control! (It's common to get several circles on the first lift.)

2. Spinning more:
When you can already spin the flowerstick, keep moving the handstick up and down and the flowerstick will spin in the air (often 3-4 circles in one go).

3. Spin slowly:
Once you can make a few circles in the air, try to play as close to the middle of the flowerstick as possible (remember, the starting position was at the end of the flowerstick). This is how the spinning of the stick will be slower.

4. Continuous contact:
For a smooth, confident spin, continuous contact between the flowerstick and the handstick is required. Don't hit it, but rather guide it.

5. Using another handstick to stop/ catch it:
When you nice and slowly manage 2-3 circles, take the other handstick in your other hand and use it to catch/ stop the flowerstick before it falls. It doesn't matter how you do it, it's more important to stop the spin than to make 10-20 circles and drop the flowerstick.

6. Combining with another trick:
When you are confident with the stop (catch), try not only to stop, but to go into transfer the one-handed spin into TIC-TAC. Connect the two tricks together. The really spectacular play starts when you combine different tricks.
