Based on NCERT Class 10 Science Practical Textbook experiment of the same title. This is a short video showing just one of the many example demonstrations of Decomposition Reaction, in this case, the decomposition of Ammonium chloride. The unique feature of the decomposition of ammonium chloride is that it is a decomposition reaction coupled with combination reaction. Many a times, the decomposition of ammonium chloride is erroneously considered and also demonstrated in classrooms worldwide as an example of a physical change known as Sublimation, wherein a substance changes from its original solid state directly into its gaseous state without the intermediate liquid phase.
