This video explores the use of a novel treatment in the field of sports medicine: platelet rich plasma injections. Tears in key ligaments and tendons are unfortunately inevitable in the realm of sports. Fortunately, through an interview with Dr. Hisham Ali, we discuss current research, as well as new and future treatments that are being developed to combat this issue. This video was made to provide some knowledge on scientific topics pertaining to alternative treatments to surgery to athletes and the general public.

This video was made by McMaster University students Ahmed Raza, Angelica Sestito, Areej Siddiqui, and Reshan Rex in collaboration with the Demystifying Medicine McMaster Program.

We would like to thank Dr. Hisham Ali for providing new insights on the current standing of sports medicine research, specifically by discussing his clinical research on PRP injections.
