Russia Slams “European Defence Union” Proposal, Vows To Counter NATO Warship “Threat” In Black Sea

The Kremlin warned Russia would consider any plans to establish a permanent presence of NATO* warships in the Black Sea as a threat. Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Russia would take all measures to ensure its security. Meanwhile, the NATO chief announced that a NATO command to coordinate support for Ukraine will be operational in Germany from September. European Commission President pledged to create "a true European Defence Union" with flagship projects on air and cyber defence. The Kremlin responded saying the EU chief's pledge to create "a true European Defence Union" if she won a second term is a sign of Europe’s militarisation.
