Now discontinued, the Maxon Fuzz Elements series caught my attention already when these were first released. These pedals are recreations of old classic fuzz designs, mostly sticking to the originals and few with some twists.
Time passed, Maxon discontinued the pedals, but finally I decided to seek and find these, especially 2 that already back them awakened by interest: the ETHER and the FIRE!
It's a shame there's so poor information out there, and few talk about these nowadays, as these pedals are built like tanks and sound gorgeous: totally underrated pedals, IMHO!

FIRE is a straight copy/clone/recreation of the Roland Beebaa, it's a huge and thick sounding fuzz, a pure sludgy flood of sound, with enough subbass to generate an earthquake! By turning the guitar volume down a bit you can tame the beast and achieve also some more polite and octavia-like sounds.
Having a dedicated footswitch to turn on/off the notch filter is super handy, and both modes work wonderfully together.

ETHER is basically a vintage Univox Superfuzz but with a very clever twist: a parametric EQ instead of the 2 preset tones switch. The fuzz per se is super tight and nasty (maybe not so bass heavy as other Superfuzzes I own), and the parametric EQ is super powerful (can almost act as a resonant bandpass filter): by filtering or exaggerating a given frequency you can generate some really interesting mayhems!

Not shown in the video, but these works wonderfully also with synths and electronics.

If you can find any of these Fuzz Elements, I highly suggest you to grab one or two!

The FE10 Ether takes the Fat channel of the FA10 Air and combines it with a parametric equalizer to create unlimited variations on the classic Super Fuzz sound. Water’s powerful parametric EQ covers a massive frequency range from a hefty 100 Hz to ear-splitting 5 kHz. Select a frequency and then boost or cut to tweak your tone with pinpoint accuracy.

The AF100 Bee Baa was Roland’s answer to the gnarly, nasty guitar boxes coming out of the USA & the UK in the late 60’s and early 70’s. A combination of transistor Fuzz, Octavia, and Treble Booster, the Bee Baa’s massive metal housing & triple stomp switches provided ample evidence that this pedal was not to be trifled with. The FF10 Fire produces two distinctly different yet equally aggressive fuzz tones based on the AF100’s signature sounds.
