Adding an automotive thermal imager to your car is a great way to increase your safety on the road. In this video, we walk you through each step of the installation process for the FLIR PathfindIR II thermal imager from camera mounting to wiring and testing. To demonstrate the process, we installed the PD/AD (pedestrian detection / animal detection) version of this infrared camera on a 2019 Toyota Tacoma (thanks to Felipé for helping out with the install). The process we cover here can apply to any vehicle, but we do cover a couple steps which are unique to the 2019 Tacoma. It's a perfect addition to any adventure vehicle or offroad truck!

This thermal camera is a great add-on for any vehicle whether on-road or offroad - it provides incredible visibility in the dark since it picks up thermal radiation and isn't dependent at all on visible light. It's not technically a car night vision camera, but it's just as good if not better since it works in daylight too! Warm objects will show up as bright white on a dark black background, no matter the weather or lighting conditions. It won't work like a traditional dashcam or automotive camera since it can't record video, but as a driver vision camera this vehicle mounted FLIR thermal imager gives you some of the best visibility in any conditions.
