2. SOUNDBITE (Italian) Antonio Tajani, Italy’s Foreign Minister:
"Well, I'm here to be close to the families of the Italians involved in this terrible tragedy that has struck Switzerland and also affected the Italian community. Now let's see what we can do to help the injured and look for the missing. I'm just back from a meeting at the Sion police headquarters, with the Canton president, the minister of security, the chief of police, and the attorney general. We took stock of the situation, especially regarding the missing and the identification of the victims."

4. SOUNDBITE (Italian) Antonio Tajani, Italy’s Foreign Minister:
"Regarding the information we have, resulting from the work of the crisis unit at the Farnesina (Italian foreign ministry), the consulate in Geneva, and the embassy in Bern, we have 13 injured and six missing. These are the figures we have. The Swiss have a smaller number because they — until they are certain of the identification — cannot and rightly do not want to provide numbers. But ours, the ones we have, are 13 injured Italians, three of whom are hospitalized at Niguarda Hospital (in Milan), a fourth is on their way there. Others are in Swiss hospitals, and we don't yet know which Swiss hospitals two of them are in. I repeat, among the injured, there are three unidentified people."

6. SOUNDBITE (Italian) Antonio Tajani, Italy’s Foreign Minister:
"Italy, however, has made available all the medical facilities possible, especially for those with severe burns, and is ready to welcome not only Italians, but all the victims of this terrible tragedy. Civil Protection has already sent a helicopter from the Aosta Valley yesterday morning, with a doctor and nurse on board, and psychologists from the Aosta Valley are arriving for the families, and doctors are arriving from the Lombardy region, so we are trying to help the Swiss authorities in every way possible. We have also made our forensic police available, and I spoke with (Italian Interior) Minister Piantedosi to help the Swiss police identify the victims."

STORYLINE:
Italy’s foreign minister visited Crans Montana on Friday, where he told reporters that latest information suggested that 13 Italians were injured and six remained missing in the fire that broke out in a bar in the Swiss ski resort on New Year's night.
Antonio Tajani placed flowers at the makeshift memorial in Crans-Montana before speaking to journalists.
“Italy has put all the necessary sanitary structures at disposal, especially the burns centers that are ready to admit not just Italians but any victim of the great tragedy," he said.
"We’ll see what we can do to help those injured, and look for those missing," he added.
One of the missing was Giovanni Tamburi, whose mother Carla Masielli issued an appeal on Italian state television network RAI for any news about her son and asked the media to show his photo in hopes of identifying him.
Three of Italy's wounded were transported Thursday from Switzerland to a Milan hospital while a fourth is expected to be transferred Friday, Tajani said.
