The Dallas County Sheriff's Academy Graduated Basic Peace Officer Course Class #139 on January 7, 2022 at 2pm. During the graduation ceremony, a highlight video of the class cadets was played for family and friends of what the cadets went through as part of their almost 6 month course for certification as Texas Peace Officers.

The Dallas County Sheriff's Department and Dallas County Sheriff Marian Brown congratulate and welcome the new Deputies. Also graduating from the academy were four (4) officers from the Desoto Police Department who attended the course and will start their careers as Police Officers.

The Basic Peace Officer Course is required by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) curriculum. The program is designed to prepare students to pass the Peace Officer licensing exam given at the end of the program. Approximately one-third of the class is devoted to developing physical skills required to become a peace officer. The program includes training in the following areas: current penal & traffic law, defensive tactics, first aid, patrol tactics, cultural diversity, firearms training and a comprehensive review for the State Licencsing Exam.

The Dallas County Sheriff's Academy also offers an array of in-service courses to current deputies and licensed officers who are state mandated to complete 40 hours of training every two years.
