💧🚧 Metropolitan Water and Sewer, a private contractor, was performing work for a building under construction in the Riverdale section of the Bronx on Wednesday when it struck a 24-inch distribution main, flooding the area. City officials responded after agencies began receiving calls reporting the break at 10:30 a.m. They were able to isolate the break and reroute the water supply so no buildings in the area were without water, but the time for repairs is currently unknown.

The water main break shut down the Major Deegan Expressway in both directions for a period, until a construction engineer determined that a 300-foot crane at the middle of the site was not at risk of collapsing. The construction on Van Cortlandt Park South is developing an elementary school and affordable housing.
