In the rugged landscapes of the Zagros Mountains, where the Bakhtiari nomads roam, the story of Turan unfolds like an ancient tale of perseverance. The nomadic era, known as "Il-e Bakhtiari," refers to the traditional lifestyle of these pastoral tribes who migrate seasonally with their herds across the highlands of Dena, seeking lush pastures in spring and warmer valleys in winter. This way of life, steeped in honor, kinship, and the rhythm of nature, has defined generations in rural Iran for centuries.

Turan, a determined young herder from a remote village, refuses to give up on finding his long-lost Grandmother Maryam. Whispers of her existence echo through the goat trails and mountain echoes—tales of a wise woman who once wove stories by the fire in their ancestral yurt. Leaving behind the debts of village life and the burdens of unpaid bride prices (mehrieh), Turan sets out with nothing but hope and unyielding resolve. He consults village elders and lawyers in the makeshift courts of the nomads, driven by a sense of forgiveness and duty to reunite his family.

Through endless toil and labor—herding goats (goch), building simple cabins from stone and thatch, and forging alliances with wandering tribes—Turan presses on. His journey takes him from dusty villages to the windswept peaks of Dena, where the air hums with the songs of Bakhtiari flutes. Effort, persistence, and hard work fuel his steps, turning despair into determination. Despite the twenty-eight hardships that test his spirit, he continues, embodying the nomadic ethos of resilience.

Finally, in a hidden glen amid the Zagros folds, Turan spots a faint smoke trail from a solitary hut. There, frail but fierce, sits Grandmother Maryam, her eyes lighting up with recognition. With tears of relief, he helps her back to the village, closing the circle of their nomadic legacy. This tale reminds us of the enduring bonds in the life of shepherds and tribespeople, where hope mends what time has torn
