Summer Institute 2024

The Institute Summer term, July 5-7, 2024, offered seven classes and a lecture. Students chose from classes that vary in length from one to three days. They explored how Flax growing in the field is transformed into fabric with an in-depth three-day workshop. Other classes included Theorem painting, Basket Weaving, De Schtaan – a PA German form of embroidery using a tin form, False Grain Painting and Fraktur. A lecture and book signing with Cindy Conner, author of Homegrown Flax and Cotton: DIY Guide to Growing, Processing, Spinning & Weaving Fiber to Cloth. Experts in their individual disciplines teach all workshops. The next semester will be announced soon!
