IN MY LIFE The Beatles Cover

"In My Life" from The Beatles 1965 album "Rubber Soul", written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. We made this as an experiment of our new toy "Reslosound The Beeb" ribbon microphone, which the Beatles used at the Cavern Club. . We used this mic for almost everything...all the vocals, guitar, and piano. The drums were played on EW Fab Four, which worked great to make that Ringo Starr drums sound. Rickenbacker 4003 bass was recorded through a DI(into telefunken V72) and through VOX Super Beatle mic-ed with Neumann U87 ( I was scared to damage the ribbon by mic-ing the bass amp). The chain was The Beeb Reslo→Ampex350→Urei1176. Both John Lennon and George Harrison guitar parts were played with Epiphone Casino through Vox AC30 (Mic-ed with The Beeb Reslo). For the wonderful piano solo that was played by Sir George Martin, we did it the way they did; play the part one octave lower with tape recording at half speed, then play it back at the normal speed. Everything except the piano was recorded directly on to pro tools through Lynx Aurora. The piano part was recorded on MCI JH5 tape machine, which is identical as Ampex AG440. This Reslo ribbon mic was "BBC-moded" by Xaudia. As soon as we used the Beeb Reslo, it sounded vintage. A very interesting sounding mic.
