Wikitongues Fellows are saving their languages and keeping their cultures alive. We started the fellowship in 2021 to support the leaders of new language revitalization projects with micro-funding, training, and volunteer support.

Mahuton Possoupe is a software developer from Benin. His mother tongue is the Fon language, also known as Fongbé. The language of the Fon people, it belongs to the Gbe group within the larger Atlantic–Congo family. It is primarily spoken in the Benin Republic, as well as in Nigeria and Togo by approximately 2.3 million speakers. Like the other Gbe languages, Fon is an isolating language with an SVO basic word order.
