0A short random visit to Highgate Cemetery East, some of the graves were easy to find , some more difficult especially in the older part which was very muddy, the was so much to see, your need at least four or five hours , possibly more.
The cemetery opened in 1839 and went into decline in the 1970's when it was no longer profitable and becoming vandalised and neglected, it was then rescued by a charity called "The Friends of Highgate Cemetery Trust" who are doing a brilliant job. There is a East and West side to the cemetery where the famous are buried in the East side, Update.....Entry £4.50 Brochure £4.50, correct at time of posting video
The next graves to visit another time will be George Elliot, William Friese Greene ,Christina Rossetti , Firemans corner and the Commonwealth war graves. Maybe next time I might find George Micheal grave ?
