As I've looked into Orthodoxy over the past year, one thing has consistently plagued my thoughts: I'm simply not Eastern. Therefore, even contemplating becoming Orthodox at any level seemed disingenuous. However, when I shared these thoughts in a video, many of you suggested that I sit down for a conversation with Fr. Patrick Cardine to discuss the Western Rite in Orthodoxy. To be honest, this wasn't something I had much familiarity with at all, but I was deeply intrigued. In this video, Fr. Patrick and I discuss the history and need for the Western Rite. In so doing, we discuss common misunderstandings and caricatures of the West within Orthodoxy, specifically in its apologetic material.
