The Garden | The Ladles

Описание к видео The Garden | The Ladles

The Garden is the first single from The Ladles’ forthcoming album, Everything That Grows. Written by Caroline Kuhn, the song is an insight into her struggle with body dysmorphia.
The importance society places on a woman’s physical appearance sends the message that no other quality is as informative of her worth. This is not a new concept, but is amplified by the rise of social media, which prioritizes photos and videos of female bodies for “the algorithm.” The message is so deeply internalized that to many, being beautiful, or simply being enough, feels out of reach. The Garden laments never knowing “what it’s like to be a rose,” and explores what is compromised in a lifelong pursuit of something unattainable.
