The He-Men are a UK-based electronic music duo comprised of Oki Noki (Danny Beck) and Sween (Steve McSweeney). Emerging from London’s underground scene, they are core members of the Tone DropOut collective, a label celebrated for its raw blend of breakbeat, acid, house, and old-skool techno aesthetics.
The project began in the mid-2010s, with The He-Men contributing standout tracks to Tone DropOut’s influential vinyl series. Their productions—such as The HE-MEN (Vol. 3), After The Rain (Vol. 5), Rolla (Vol. 6), and Evolution 1 (Vol. 10)—have become staples within the label’s catalogue, earning recognition among DJs and collectors for their driving energy, acid-soaked textures, and nostalgic nods to rave culture. In 2024, they expanded into the label’s digital arm with tracks like Chicken and Battle Cat, further cementing their role as key figures within Tone DropOut’s roster.
Individually, both artists bring distinct experience and vision: Oki Noki, also known under aliases such as Zaitsev, is known for his eclectic production style and deep roots in acid house; Sween, co-runner of Tone DropOut alongside DAWL, provides both creative and curatorial direction, ensuring the label’s reputation for consistency and underground credibility.
