Karnataka Cabinet cleared a bill mandating reservation of local candidates in the private sector within the state on July 17. The legislation requires a reservation of 50% management positions and 75% non-management positions in industries, factories, and other establishments for the locals. TNM’s Pooja Prasanna spoke to Labour Minister Santosh Lad on the nuances of the bill. The Karnataka State Employment of Local Candidates in the Industries, Factories, and Other Establishments Bill, 2024, is set to be introduced in the ongoing legislative session.
