This £5 River Trent day ticket needs a HEALTH WARNING!

It's been nearly two years since I fished my beloved River Trent in Nottinghamshire... An iconic fishing venue that I first journeyed to from Sheffield, with my granddad, before going on to hone my skills on the mighty waterway with the city's junior match angling squad.

Over the years I've loved fishing many methods and baits on the Trent, such as stick float with hemp and casters, or a groundbait feeder, and catching everything from roach, dace and chub, to bream, eels and perch.

One species of fish I wasn't used to catching from the Trent were PIKE - the freshwater crocodile as us coarse anglers sometimes refer to them - but this summer trip saw me land yet another PB, following an epic battle on light trotting gear! And it turned out to be one of several river monsters to test my nerves...

In this video I visit a stunning day ticket stretch of the River Trent near Hoverhingham, run by Midland Angling Society. The sun shone and the fish were biting in numbers, so join me for this extended trip down memory lane.
