A curious and friendly gecko

These geckos used to like to hang out on my desk when I lived in Hawai'i. They're Phelsuma laticaudata (Madagascar day geckos). They're wild lizards that slip and and out of the house through gaps in the screens. I liked having these reptiles around; the ones on my desk were the most friendly and would sometimes come over to interact with me like this one did. The geckos in the kitchen were a bit more timid; they'd come over if you gave them something sweet and you could sometimes boop their noses.

This is not the type of gecko that loses skin as a defence mechanism; those are Phelsuma grandis. And no, he has not offered me insurance. Just his cute, adorable friendship.
