In The Last Knight, Megatron initially had no connection to Infernocus. He only recruited several Decepticons from a military prison to strengthen his army. Meanwhile, the demonic combiner first appeared when Quintessa punished Optimus Prime in her temple on Cybertron. However, after Megatron succeeded in obtaining Merlin’s staff and handed it over to Quintessa, she then commanded Infernocus to follow Megatron in carrying out their mission. Infernocus himself was not a Decepticon, so Megatron’s authority to command him only came after Quintessa’s approval.
