I go back to the 1970s and look at a trio of classic battery-powered toy cars from the 1970s, including a remote control car, a sonic control car, and an F1 toy that performs various manouevres - or at least it should do if it still works ... one of these was kindly donated by an OCC follower some 20+ years ago! In this video I give it a whirl for the first time in its 50+ years to see if it'll actually work. Who else remembers Tandy / Radio Shack remote control and sonic control toy cars?
Whereas full-size cars of the 1970s don't always float my boat, I do have a soft spot for these early radio controlled, remote controlled and sonic controlled toy cars. Many of my Saturdays in the 1970s were spent in, and looking in the window of, our local Tandy store, admiring the wondrous assortment of whizzy radio- and remote-control toy cars, and much fun was had at the time with (from memory) a sonic-controlled Porsche 928 and, later, a large radio-controlled Porsche 924 Turbo with working headlights. I'm sure there were others too. Anyone else a fan of these 1970s toys?
