The Smart Bhu Parikshak is a rapid soil testing device based on IoT technology developed in the CNIS lab. It is a lightweight and portable smart device for the determination of soil nutrients. The device is designed to provide field real-time soil analysis. The device is based on Near Infrared Spectroscopy technology that provides real-time soil analysis reports on smartphones with an embedded mobile application named Bhu-Parikshak available on Google Play Store. It shows the result within 90 seconds on an android phone having a mobile application and can monitor the soil health and accordingly provide fertilizer and crop recommendations. It can determine multiple soil parameters simultaneously like Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K), Organic carbon (OC), Soil texture (Clay), and Cation exchange (CEC). There is no requirement for prior sample preparation. It also has the facility to keep a record of previous analyses. It is a very low-power device having battery backup which can analyze 120 soil samples on a single charge. It would assist individual farmers in obtaining soil health parameters of agricultural fields with a recommended dose of fertilizers without having to go to a laboratory. Overall it helps farmers in achieving better yield and thus, increase their productivity and profitability
