Christ Receiveth Sinful Men (Weekly Hymn Project)

Описание к видео Christ Receiveth Sinful Men (Weekly Hymn Project)

Today's Hymn is "Christ Receiveth Sinful Men".
I was a little hesitant about this hymn, as it sounded to me like saying it doesn't matter if you are in sin, if you leave the heav'nly pathway; you're saved no matter what. I believe the Lord doesn't save us in a theoretical sense, like we are in heaven now just because of a prayer; but that His salvation is real transformation that starts us on a journey off of the broad way to the narrow path of life; from death in sin (living in sin) to life in Christ (a life of holiness and we don't have to "live any longer therein"). But obviously we are sinners and Jesus didn't come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance. All of us come to God as sinners needing Him to save us. So, though I do not believe His message is to leave us in sin (John 5:14, John 8:11), what wonderful news that Christ calls sinners to Himself; Christ receiveth sinful men!

Lyrics:
Sinners Jesus will receive:
Sound this word of grace to all
Who the heav'nly pathway leave,
All who linger, all who fall.

[Refrain:]
Sing it o'er (Sing it o'er again)
and o'er again:(Sing it o'er again:)
Christ receiveth (Christ receiveth sinful men)
sinful men. (Christ receiveth sinful men)
Make the message (Make the message clear and plain)
clear and plain: (Make the message clear and plain)
Christ receiveth sinful men.

Come, and He will give you rest;
Trust Him, for His word is plain;
He will take the sinfulest;
Christ receiveth sinful men.

Now my heart condemns me not,
Pure before the law I stand;
He who cleansed me from all spot
Satisfied its last demand.

Christ receiveth sinful men,
Even me with all my sin;
Purged from ev’ry spot and stain,
Heav’n with Him I enter in.
