Price of Victory: Legacy of Commander Cody and the 212th – A tribute to one of the Republic’s greatest soldiers and the cost of loyalty.
Commander Cody and the 212th Attack Battalion were among one of the Republic’s finest, fighting with unwavering loyalty under General Obi-Wan Kenobi. From Christophsis to Ryloth, The Citadel, Utapau, they stood as brothers, winning battles and believing they were securing peace. But when Order 66 was given, that loyalty became a curse. Without hesitation, Cody followed orders and turned on his general—his friend.
He followed orders without question, but the weight of his choices became inescapable. When he was sent to suppress a rebellion on Desix, something changed. Seeing the Empire’s cruelty firsthand, Cody finally realized the truth: the Republic he fought for was gone, and he had helped build its replacement. Something much worse.
It’s unclear what became of him, however “One cannot change their past, but they can rewrite their future.” ( • Rebel Commando 1: Retribution || Bad Batch... )
Lyrics:
(Intro)
Kamino’s storms, where clones were made,
Born for battle, our lives preordained.
Under General Kenobi, we stood as one,
Against the droids and their endless guns.
(Verse 1)
On Christophsis streets, we held our ground,
With Kenobi's wisdom, victory was found.
On Ryloth’s sands, where people wept,
We freed the oppressed, their hope we kept.
(Pre-Chorus)
Citadel walls where heroes fell,
Utapau’s heights, we gave them hell.
Side by side, we fought as one,
Until the code was called, and bonds undone.
(Chorus)
For the Republic, I stood so tall,
Through battles unending, I answered the call.
With courage fierce, we marched as one,
But the price of victory could not be undone.
(Verse 2)
On Utapau’s cliffs, the tide was turned,
Grievous fell, and the victory earned.
The battle was won, but peace was still far,
As the darkness of war left its scar.
The command came down, cold as the night,
To strike at the ones who stood for the right.
With no hesitation or room to plead,
I followed the order, a soldier’s creed.
(Chorus)
For the Republic, I stood so tall,
Through battles unending, I answered the call.
With courage fierce, we marched as one,
But the price of victory could not be undone.
(Verse 3)
Under the Empire’s rule, I played their game,
A soldier’s armor, but not the same.
The Republic’s light now drowned in dust,
A cause betrayed, a shattered trust.
(Outro)
I am a soldier of the Republic, not a droid,
I live with the cost of what’s been destroyed.
Once bound by duty, now a shadow remains,
But I’ll fight for the light to ease these pains.
