Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden has visited Kroge in Germany in relation to the first ceremony of Queen Silvia Nursing Award Germany 2019.

The ceremony was hosted by main project partner in Germany - Förderverein Anna Wassenberg, www.anna-wassenberg.de in collaboration with project partners. The scholarship launched in Germany in 2017. Please read more about the project in Germany here: https://www.queensilvianursingaward.de/.

The Queen Silvia Nursing Award is a scholarship that is given annually to nursing students in Sweden, Finland, Poland, Germany, Lithuania and the US.

The scholarship was established in Sweden in 2013 as a gift to Her Majesty Queen Silvia. The first scholar was announced in Sweden on the Queen’s birthday on 23rd of December 2013.

The recipient of the Queen Silvia Nursing Award is rewarded with a scholarship of Euros 6 000 in addition to a unique, individually tailored learning and networking program. During the internship, the scholar has an opportunity to learn about healthcare and care of the elderly from various perspectives, to network locally and internationally, to present its idea in various settings.
 
The purpose of the Queen Silvia Nursing Award is to contribute to meeting one of the greatest future challenges by promoting competence and new ideas related to a good and sustainable care of the elderly all over the world. As competent professionals are the key to meeting future needs related to the ageing population, the goal is to increase students’ interest in the field of elderly care and its development.
